Will Morris, LAc
Will Morris, LAc, is president of the Academy of Oriental Medicine (Austin, Texas) and also serves as president of the American Association of Oriental Medicine. As AOMA's new President, his mission is the acculturation of Oriental medicine in America. Three areas of focus in his work life are practice, education and professionalism. He has practiced a Taoist acupressure and three treasures herbal style since 1980 with a focus on pulse balancing methodologies. In his practice, Will has specialized in the treatment of autoimmune diseases having published and presented nationally on Lupus. He has maintained a private practice in Los Angeles and Massachusetts. As an academician, Will works on translational projects that can be seen in the American Acupuncturist as well as teaching and publishing in his academic specialty, pulse diagnosis. He has earned each newly developed degree in the field of Oriental medicine beginning with the certificate program at Emperor's College in 1986, followed by the then California State approved Doctor of Oriental Medicine program at Samra University in 1988, and next the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine accredited Master's degree in 1990. Most recently, he is completing the Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Emperor's College to be conferred in Spring of 2006. He received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of Southern California in the Division of Medical Education. Will is a recognized national leader in the field of Oriental medicine. He has served on the board of Directors for the American Association of Oriental Medicine since 2000, first as Chair of the Education Committee, then as Secretary and currently as President. He served as co-chair of the Vision Search Task Force, a project designed to unify the field of Oriental medicine. Will has participated on the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental medicine (ACAOM) Doctoral Task Force which is developing standards for a first professional doctorate in Oriental medicine. He also serves as an ACAOM Site Visit Team Chair. He served on the board of directors of the California Acupuncture Association, as a Little Hoover Commission Advisory Committee Member in 2003 and 2004 and as a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Medicine Massachusetts Acupuncture Committee Herbal Training Requirements Advisory Board Member from 1994 to 1996. Will is married to Colleen; he has 3 children, Joshua, Solena and Zoe. Josh and Solena are pursuing their careers while 6 year old Zoe lives with Colleen and Will. (512-454-1188) president@aoma.edu
