Linnea Larson
Linnea Larson is a clinical social worker and family therapist. Her two decades of work in healthcare settings have included both inpatient and outpatient care of oncology, renal, and psychiatric patients, and care for the dying at a hospice. She is currently engaged in research on the future of medicine at the Center for Systems and Health Equality in Oak Park, Illinois, as well as tending to her own business, called Learning Strategies, where she teaches mindfulness meditation and Heartmath techniques. She has also served as a commissioner on the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy, as associate director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, and as adjunct faculty in Social Work at campuses of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and in Springfield, Illinois. While at West Suburban Hospital she developed and implemented the first behavioral science curriculum in its family practice residency program. Linnea enjoys reading in a wide range of disciplines, practicing yoga, meditating, knitting, traveling, listening to jokes, being with family and friends, and spending time with her husband of thirty-one years.
